Just three days before the 72nd anniversary of D-Day, join author Linda Hervieux as she presents her book, Forgotten: The Untold Story of D-Day's Black Heroes, at Home and at War. The book chronicles the story of the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion, a group of African Americans that landed on Omaha Beach and Utah Beach to raise a curtain of barrage balloons for the amphibious invasion. Learn about the only black combat unit to land at Normandy on June 6, 1944, as Hervieux draws on newly uncovered military records and interviews with surviving members to share how their acts of heroism have remained untold for 70 years. The Washington Post calls the book "Compelling... a welcome addition to our understanding of the war and the American military."
